The Edge Saddle Range
First Thought Equine Ltd, the designers of WOW Saddles, have created a new range called the EDGE collection, which through popular demand includes a brand new Show Saddle.
The EDGE saddles differ from the existing WOW range, offering a traditional outside but with all the patented WOW technology that has proven to enhance movement and improve muscle development in horses across the disciplines. The EDGE collection also utilises the same revolutionary WOW tree, which is laterally flexible whilst longitudinally rigid. This combined with the unique Pointless Panel System, which provides a bigger support area than an equivalent size western saddle, means horses are able to move more correctly through the shoulder.
First Thought Equine Ltd have stayed true to their principle of giving as much fitting choice for the horse by using the same inter-changeable headplate and panels, thus giving over 200 fitting combinations! The range of tree fittings is also extensive, from extra narrow all the way to 8X wide, which means that you can now have a showing saddle with all the inter-changeability you could need, especially useful for horses that change shape throughout the year.

THE EDGE SHOWJUMPER
The Edge Showjumper is a traditional close contact dual flap saddle with short girthing. The saddle, whilst looking more traditional is WOW through and through, sharing the same tree and panel construction that make WOW so outstanding in performance.
For the rider, the seat around the pommel has been narrowed to allow the rider to take a more forward seat required for showjumping. The rider can use normal stirrup leathers and there is a groove in the flap with a hidden stirrup leather keeper to minimise bulk under the leg.
There is an option to use a short girth, dressage length, which will increase the feel for the rider of the horse by removing the bulk of the buckles and buckle guards from under the flap. We feel this type of girthing arrangement is superior in its function but is not what every rider likes.
THE EDGE CLASSIC
The Classic has a moveable block and has a narrow seat in front of the twist to allow the rider to be positioned more forward in the saddle as preferred by many show jumpers.
The saddle has an dual flap that allows for either short or long girth billets to be used.
The block velcro in to place to give plenty of options. there is also the possibility to have a calf block under the flap as well if required.
THE EDGE DRESSAGE
The Club Dressage has deep seat and a giant high block set even higher. The seat and flap are not inter-changeable or moveable in position.
A lot of men prefer this seat and flap combination. It is Richard Davison’s and Wayne Channon’s preferred combination. The seat only being deep and not extra deep allows the pelvis to be dropped back slightly.
We can also do this saddle with any extra deep seat if required but remember you can’t swap the flaps like you can on the WOW’s!
Lengths Available – Standard, +1″ & +2”
THE EDGE SHOWING
The EDGE Show Saddle is made from highest quality hides. The flaps are “frenched” (covered in panel hide) to give a soft supple flap that looks and feels superb.
Under the skirt you will find two stirrup bars to offer the rider a more forward position for jumping, and a back bar for flat work. The saddle has traditional short girth billets and both point and balance straps can be easily added as required by either the saddler or the rider, with a simple bolt!
The seat is designed to keep the leg close to the horse, providing minimal bulk under the thigh and, being generous and reasonably flat it can accommodate varying shapes and sizes of riders. The seat is made from just one piece of leather so there are no seams on the seat to wear out or cause discomfort.
THE EDGE CROSS COUNTRY
The Classic XC has a moveable block and has a narrow seat in front of the twist to allow the rider to be positioned more forward in the saddle as preferred by many show jumpers.
The flap is 1 inch more forward cut than the Classic Jumper that will suit longer legs or shorter stirrups. The saddle has an dual flap that allows for either short or long girth billets to be used.
The block velcros in to place to give plenty of options, there is also the possibility to have a calf block under the flap as well if required.

"The horses are all much freer through their shoulders both on the flat and when jumping. I love the ease of adaptability to fit different horses, being able to fine tune them and make subtle changes to the balance while on board which would be impossible in a traditionally flocked saddle."
"Since using the Wow saddle I have felt a huge difference in Affinity Bay's way of going. He has the ability to come up more through the shoulder which allows him more easily to come under with his quarters and 'sit' in work such as canter pirouettes."
"My horses are far to valuable to me in every way, to consider using something as vitally important as a saddle, for any reason other than the horse's ability to perform to the very best of its' ability& WOW and Flair are a major step forward in the way we saddle our horses."
"I chose to use my jump Wow saddle to be safe and secure in such a big atmosphere, and absolutely loved getting to gallop in the main arena Championship just before the Derby! Annacotty and I qualified for the RoR Tattersalls Show Final back in may at Stafford County Show. Riding in the Final at Hickstead in his first year of retraining was a dream come true."

It is a well-known fact that horses change shape Or maybe it is not – A horse can feel a fly land – so obviously changes in the rider’s weight distribution are going to affect the horse. I suspect we just do not appreciate how little change is needed to alter the way...
As with most things Flair we have to think about this a little differently than the “stable myths” would have us think. For example, you are unlikely to have an even dampness from sweat under the saddle. The Flair is a soft air fill, it is designed to move with the...
Saddle fitting is complicated. Trying a lot of off-the-rack saddles will get a close fit. You can have them modified by a saddle-fitter. Better yet, you can have a saddler build a perfectly fitting saddle, which will fit when its built but cannot accommodate the...
